This whole-day workshop contained four sections. It began with a brief introduction to the basic idea of 108 new curriculum and the core competences of English learning. What followed was an impressive demonstration of how to integrate the core competences with our everyday English class. In the afternoon, several experienced teachers and directors from model schools of 108 curriculum came to share their experiences. The final part was Q&A, which was short but meaningful, because teachers could raise their doubts about 108 curriculum get the possible answers.
It was nice to attend the workshop and got acquainted with teachers from other schools. It was also nice to have an experienced teacher to deliver a clear message that as long as teachers were willing to adjust their mind, the practice of 108 curriculum or core competencies in class could not be as challenging as it looked like (even though it is indeed a challenge).
However, knowing is one thing while doing is another. I do hope one day I could integrate the spirit of 108 curriculum into my course and assist my students to develop core competences they need.
